A wart is a small grainy growth on the skin that develops when the skin is infected by a virus; typically they appear on the bottom of the foot. They are common in the elderly and children. They are highly contagious and can spread to other individuals if left untreated. The warts can grow in solitary form which is one single wart or they can grow in Mosaic form which is a cluster of several small warts. Mosaic warts can be more difficult to treat that the solitary warts. They normally appear as thickened skin with tiny black dots on the surface of the warts and pain when walk-ing can happen sometimes.
Treatment for a plantar wart can include some of the following methods:
Topical or Oral treatments – medication to help with the pain and infection
Laser Therapy – intense laser that is used to de-stroy the wart.
Cryotherapy – freezing of the wart
Acid Treatment – comparable to the freezing, acid is placed on the wart, covered and repeated until the warts are gone.
Surgery – the type of surgery depends on the warts’ location, type and size.
